The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department is now apologizing for posting a wildly inappropriate condolence message lamenting the "tragic" blowing up of Iran's nuclear sites by the U.S. military, where they wished the "victims and their families" of the operation all the best.

Yes, really.

"Our hearts go out to the victims and families impacted by the recent bombings in Iran," the LA Sheriff's Department originally posted on Sunday, adding, "While this tragic event occurred overseas, the Los Angles Count Sheriff’s Department is closely monitoring the situation alongside our local, state, and federal partners."

The department also noted that while “there are no known threats to Los Angeles County,” they are “increasing patrol checks at places of worship and other sensitive locations throughout the county.”

Naturally, wishing condolences on the "victims" of a U.S. military strike against a foreign enemy's nuclear operations didn't exactly sit well with anyone other than leftists who immediately ditched their Mexican flags in favor of Iranian ones to stump for an oppressive regime that murders and enslaves women.

Following a tsunami of backlash, the LA Sheriff's Department quickly pulled a 180 and apologized for the "inappropriate" post, which they claimed was "made in error and does not reflect the views of Sheriff Robert G. Luna or the Department."

"We fully recognize that the words and messages we share carry weight. As law enforcement professionals, we are entrusted with a position of public responsibility and that trust demands that we communicate accurately. In this instance, we fell short of expectation, and we are taking quick corrective action," the Department posted Monday in a statement.

The department added that it has “launched an internal review to determine how it was created and published.”

Our hearts go out to the part-time intern who's getting thrown under the bus for this one.
