A white teacher is suing his teachers union, claiming he was told he wasn’t eligible for an open position due to his skin color.
Or, rather, his lack thereof.
Isaac Newman, a History teacher in Elk Grove, tried to run for a board position for the Elk Grove Education Association, saying he was concerned about his school district’s “diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)” policies. After applying, he said he was told he couldn’t progress beyond the nomination form because he was white, and that the position was only open to non-white applicants.
The position was for a “BIPOC” - which stands for “Black, Indigenous, Person of Color” - “At-Large” position only open to people who self-identify as one of the above, leaving Newman ineligible for the open seat due to his race. He’s now claiming he’s a victim of “racial discrimination,” both for the fact that he was denied the position based on his skin, and the fact that the race-based position exists in the first place. The Elk Grove Education Association is a local branch of the National Education Association, the largest labor union in the U.S.
“EGEA deprived Newman of a specific opportunity to run for an Executive Board seat based on the color of his skin,” Newman’s lawsuit reads. “Furthermore, the existence of the BIPOC position constitutes ongoing unlawful discrimination because it permanently damages Newman’s future prospects of attaining a union leadership role.”

"It's disgusting, and that's why I'm suing," Newman later told Fox News Digital. "My union barred me from a leadership position simply because of the color of my skin. I’m prohibited from running for a leadership position simply because of my race. This kind of racial litmus test is illegal, and it's un-American, and that's why I'm taking them to court.”
The allegations wouldn’t exactly be a shock for the Elk Grove Unified School District. From forcing students to watch other students dance in drag during a school assembly to hosting secret LGBTQ clubs for kids, the public school system has a penchant for pushing a leftist agenda at the expense of basic decency and individual rights. Denying someone a spot on their board because of their melanin levels would be pretty par for the course.
