The annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner took place Thursday evening, and it was filled with the wealthy elite mixed with members of the establishment propaganda media. Because, you know, journalistic integrity or something.

The dinner is well-known for brigning luminaries together from across the political spectrum, including presidential nominees during election years…until this year when Vice President Kamala Harris became the first Democrat nominee not to attend since the late Walter Mondale in 1984.

Host and stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan called Harris out multiple times for that very fact, as well as Democrats in general for various reasons.

“You know, this event has been referred to as the Catholic Met Gala. Twenty-two percent of Americans identify as Catholic. Catholics will be a key demographic in every battleground state…I'm sorry. Why is Vice President Harris not here? I mean, consider this. This is a room full of Catholics and Jews in New York City. This is a layup for the Democratic nominee. I mean, in her defense, I mean, she did find time to appear on "The View," Howard Stern, Colbert and the long time staple of campaigning, the "Call Her Daddy" podcast. You know what I think it is? I think she doesn't like me.”

For those playing the home game, the “Call Her Daddy” podcast is a show for loose women to learn how to perfect their “craft.”

Harris did send a recorded skit that included the classic “Saturday Night Live” (SNL) character “Mary Katherine Gallagher,” protrayed by SNL alumnus Molly Shannon.

Gaffigan, as mentioned earlier, took a shot at the Democrat Party in general, calling out Harris’ ascension to where she is currently.

“The Democrats have been telling us Trump, Trump's reelection is a threat to democracy. In fact, they were so concerned of this threat, they staged a coup. Ousted their democratically elected incumbent, and installed Kamala Harris. In other words, all her dreams have come true.”

The New York City elite crowd’s reaction to the jokes received mixed responses, but Gaffigan didn’t get that many jeers as the crowd, for the most part, understood what the annual dinner entails.

Of course, and rightly so, Gaffigan had jokes about everyone from all political persuasions, including former President Donald Trump.

“I feel like Donald Trump, you know, Make America Healthy Again [RFK Jr. reference], I feel like Donald Trump would probably be less loyal to RFK than he would be to KFC [Kentucky Fried Chicken]. Do you know what I mean? It’s like, I think the rank of Colonel Sanders — I don’t know, some of these I wrote during lunch.”

In general, no matter who Gaffigan roasted, from former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, it seemed like it was all done in jest.
