ILIA CALDERÓN: Something similar is happening in Texas. The Katy Independent School District board approved a new policy that requires parents to be notified if their children identify as transgender or non-binary if they want to change their name or use different pronouns at school. The policy prohibits teachers from teaching information regarding changes to one’s gender.
