Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson Blames City's Crime Problem on Red States

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is shifting the blame for his own city's rampant crime, saying that the city "will continue to have a violence problem as long as red states have a gun problem."

To remind everyone, nearly 30 percent of adult Chicagoans are functionally illiterate, fewer than one in three Chicago public school students can read at grade level, 80 percent of black children were born to fatherless homes, the city's homeless rate tripled in 2024, and nearly 1,200 businesses reported being burglarized in June alone.
