Dem. Rep.: ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ and 14th amendment Gives Congress Authority to Enforce Healthcare

Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) said on Tuesday that individuals should be required to purchase health insurance, citing the Declaration of Independence’s “pursuit of happiness” language and the U.S. Constitution’s 14th amendment as Congress’ authority to enforce the mandate in the health care law.
