Israeli, PLO Envoys Differ Over Cause of Gaza Violence

The PLO representative in the U.S. charged Sunday that the root cause of the violence was Israel’s occupation of the Gaza Strip. Israel’s ambassador disputed that, pointing out that Israel had withdrawn entirely from Gaza nine years ago, and said that since it had done so 9,000 rockets had been fired into Israel from the territory.
