As Jon Stewart concluded Comedy Central’s The Weekly Show podcast on Thursday, he attacked Fox News for citing my late night guest studies.

Earlier in the episode, in news that has nothing to do with me, Stewart was talking with former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan, who had a particularly strange take on the defunding of PBS and NPR as it relates to the FCC and President Trump’s various media lawsuits:
This is a global playbook that Trump is borrowing from. India, Turkey, Hungary, what are, they all, what have all these countries done? Orban, Erdogan, Modi, they've all taken over the media in their respective countries, and they didn't take over the media by sending tanks and armed men into newsrooms. They took over the media the exact same way that Trump is doing right now, through lawsuits, through economic harassment, through defaming, and smearing journalists, through violently attacking journalists who are covering protests, through all of these methods, through hollowing out public media, NPR, PBS, defunding. This is the playbook in India, in Hungary, in Turkey, in Russia, in Israel, and here in the United States now.
