NATO Chief: Document to Russia Reaffirmed ‘That Every Nation Has The Right To Choose Its Own Path’

NATO secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg said Wednesday that in “written proposals” handed to Moscow the alliance had made clear its stance that countries wanting to join NATO have the right to apply to do so. He noted too that decisions on membership ultimately required consensus among the 30 current allies.
