Palestinian Unity Deal: U.N. is Taking Abbas ‘At His Word’ on Hamas’ Recognition of Israel

A spokesman for U.N. secretary-general Ban Ki-moon says the U.N. sees no reason not to take Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas “at his word” when he says the unity deal with Hamas will be implemented on the understanding of recognizing Israel – even though Hamas has denied this.
