PBS NewsHour co-anchor Amna Nawaz escaped her D.C.-based news studio and ran to the Arizona-Mexico border, filing from both sides of the border in three reports over three evenings. It makes sense for reporters to be on the scene of a flashpoint of a big election-year issue. Yet American electoral politics were completely absent from the three-day conversation, even as the presidential campaign has launched in earnest with each candidate (Joe Biden and Donald Trump) clinching his respective party’s nomination. Somehow PBS avoided mention of the B-word (Biden) over the three segments.
