With “conservative” representative David Brooks indulging in some early whining about the potential “racial intonation” of the Republican National Convention’s line-up of Tuesday evening speakers on immigration, the mantle for PBS’s coverage maintaining some kind of objective coverage fell on the unlikely shoulders of Amy Walter of the Cook Political Report, who shared stats and polling showing Republican gains among minority communities and Biden in a shaky position with his own party and lack of confidence of him at the top of the ticket.
At the 10:13 p.m. (ET) juncture Walter walked into a spat with a prickly Capehart who fiercely defended the Democratic president from critics.
