At a time when Turkey’s Islamist president is dialing up the rhetoric against Greece, Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Bob Menendez in a recent visit to Athens called Turkey under Recep Tayyip Erdogan “the most persistent and proximate threat in the Eastern Mediterranean.”
