State Dep’t on Claims Iran-Backed Militia Seized Americans in Baghdad: Early Reports ‘Are Often Wrong’

State Department spokesman John Kirby said Tuesday the U.S. government was working closely with the Iraqi authorities to establish what happened to three American contractors who went missing in Baghdad, but when asked about reports that three were seized by Iran-backed Shi’ite militia he said he was not aware of any decision by the U.S. to speak to anyone other than the Iraqis.
