The State Department’s counterterrorism bureau has been renamed the “bureau of counterterrorism and countering violent extremism,” reflecting a “more proactive and integrated approach” to the effort to counter and prevent radicalization, including online, Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Tuesday.
