State Dept: US Won’t Support Efforts to ‘Normalize’ or ‘Rehabilitate’ Assad, ‘a Brutal Dictator’

As Arab states signal a warming of relations with Syria’s Assad regime, the State Department on Tuesday made clear that the administration opposes “efforts to normalize or to rehabilitate Bashar al-Assad, who is a brutal dictator.”
