If you have been confused with whether Mo (Alex Newell) is a guy or a girl, you haven't been the only one. That's because Mo, a he, is gender fluid. The series so far has featured lines like "he is a he, right," as titular character Zoey (Jane Levy) talks to her crush, Simon (John Clarence Stewart) about Mo's musical talents. "He doesn't like labels," Zoey tells Simon. One of the first scenes in March 1's "Zoey's Extraordinary's Neighbor" reveals Zoey initially thought Mo was a woman, as she had called him "ma'am."
