KAMALA HARRIS: Today was, obviously, a very important day and it was about what should be the norm and what the American people should be able to take for granted, which is that one of the most important pillars of our democracy is that there will be a peaceful transfer of power. (VIDEO SWIPE) And today, America’s democracy stood.
JOY REID: But this was the way that at least one Republican's spouse reacted to the Congress- uh, Senator- to the Vice President of the United States on Friday when she swore in Deb Fischer of Nebraska. It appears that the husband of this United States Senator would not even shake hands with the Vice President of the United States. And I think what that shows, Congressman (Bennie Thompson), is that there is not an equal reverence for democracy in both of these two parties.
